Hey there Key Club!

Hope you're having a good week. It's a beautiful week in the Northwoods. Wonderful 70s, no humidity, nice breeze, sunny days... simply gorgeous. I enjoyed a canoe outing with my dad tonight on a nearby lake. We saw a few bald eagles circling the area - what an awesome sight!

I would like to include my August Newsletter in this post, but I've yet to figure out how to upload a pdf document to blogspot... I'll work on that more this week : ) If you'd like, I can e-mail it to you - let me know - click here. (And if you know how to upload a pdf, e-mail me too, please)

But until then, here are the highlights:

1. God is good - all the time!

2. I'm thankful for supporters - both prayer partners and financial givers.

3. I'm VERY close to reaching my support goal. I'm currently needing just $500 in monthly support, before being released to the field.

4. To help raise the final bit of support, a generous supporter has offered to match 50% of each monthly pledge. For example, if you commit to giving $30 a month, they'll add $15 to it, making it a $45 monthly pledge. They will also match 50% of each special gift that is given. So, if you've been thinking about joining the team, now's a great time to do it! Click here to give!

THANKS so much for your encouragement and support.

Blessings,
Beth

Hello Key Club! I hope this finds you doing well and having a good week. Can you believe August is here? Where did the summer go? Below you'll find some updates from my time in the Northwest. As you read, I hope you're encouraged to see that the Lord is at work!

THANK YOU for joining me in this journey. Thank you for your prayers each week for the military community, and for me as I raise support to serve teens in Germany. I'm so thankful for the many people who've decided to give financially as well.

Blessings,
Beth Mabry

Camp Morrow:
My time at Camp Morrow went extremely well! I had a blast leading the missionary times throughout the week and really enjoyed spending time with students and encouraging them in the Lord. Speaking at a camp was a new, growing experience for me and I'm thankful for the opportunity. The highlight of the camp was working with my friend Dave, who originally introduced me to Cadence and served as my supervising mentor while I interned with Cadence in Okinawa.

Kamiah 2010:
The same day Camp Morrow ended, I joined the Central Bible youth group on a mission trip to the Nez Perce reservation in Kamiah, Idaho. Our team completed a number of service projects (cleaning, painting, lawn work, etc.) during the mornings we were there. In the afternoons, we led basketball camps and a Vacation Bible School for the younger kids. It was really fun to reconnect with the students on the team and hear what's going on in their lives. During my two years at Multnomah, I got to know many of these students very well and was disappointed to say good bye to them when I graduated. Our weeklong reunion was a wonderful blessing!

Support Update:
I returned home on Tuesday night to many encouraging e-mails and letters. A number of people have responded to recent Key Club e-mails and newsletters regarding support. I'm very pleased to report that my start-up funds have been raised in full! I'm also excited to let you know that the number of monthly supporters continues to grow! I'm currently needing just $500 in monthly support before being released to the field. This is exciting! God has been so faithful in providing and I'm confident that He will continue to meet my support needs.

Praises and Prayer Requests:
While in Portland I was able to spend some wonderful time with friends and supporters. I give thanks to the Lord for connecting me with new supporters during my time in the Northwest! I received a number of unexpected donations while sharing about military ministry with different people the Lord crossed my path with. I still hope to be on the field by the end of this month, or sometime in early September. Please join me in praying that God would continue to bring more financial givers to our ministry team.

I'm enjoying my time in the Northwest. I've been able to connect with a number of my Multnomah friends. I've also been able to see a few supporters. I'm looking forward to seeing more before heading back to WI.

I leave for Camp Morrow tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to leaning into teens this week. I miss being actively involved in youth ministry. I'm excited about the experiential learning activities I have planned. Each activity has a missions focus. My hope is that students will be challenged to think of how they can impact others for Jesus. All Christ followers are missionaries - we're all called to "go and make disciples." We don't have to go overseas to do this, it can be done in our homes, schools and communities.

Approx. 80 middle school students are coming to camp this week. Would you join me in praying that God would prepare their hearts to hear His Word and that they'd choose to respond to Him. Thanks!

For the sake of the Name,
Beth

Dear Team,
Hello! I hope you've had a good week and are enjoying a nice weekend. After a rainy 4th of July weekend, I'm really enjoying today's sunshine!

Below you'll find some updates and prayer requests. Thanks for reading - and THANKS for joining me on this journey to serve Jesus by serving the military community.

Blessings,
Beth
NAME CHANGE:
Malachi has recently changed its name to
CADENCE STUDENT MINISTRIES (CSM) to better reflect our connection with Cadence International and our heart for students.
2010 CADENCE CONFERENCE: FOR THE SAKE OF THE NAME:
A few weeks ago I told you about Cadence's 2010 world conference - thanks for you prayers regarding it! Over 300 missionaries from all over the world joined together in Green Lake, WI for a week to: honor our staff, connect our team, celebrate the vision, and refresh our hearts. The conference theme came from 3 John 7 which reads, "it was for the sake of the Name that they went out." The president of Denver Seminary taught throughout the week on various passages about God's name - very good stuff!

Some highlights from the conference...
1. I got to connect with a lot of other missionaries and hear their stories -this brought me great encouragement.
2. I was reminded of what a privilege it is to minister to the military community - the need is great, the soil is fertile and the harvest is ripe.
3. My heart was blessed by the fellowship, time in the Word, and wonderful worship music.

COMING UP NEXT - I'm flying to Portland, Oregon tomorrow for a few weeks.

A friend/mentor of mine, is teaching at a junior high Bible camp on Mt. Hood for a week. He's invited me to join him in leading some missions focused experiential learning activities for the campers. I think it'll be a great time.

Right after camp, I'll be joining the youth group I worked with while I attended Multnomah, on their annual mission trip to the Nez Perce reservation in Kamiah, Idaho. I'm excited to see many of the girls I got to know during my 2 years at Central Bible Church.

In addition to the camp and mission trip, I'll be able to connect with some great friends and supporters while I'm in the Northwest - I'm really looking forward to that!

I may have limited internet access while at camp and in Idaho, but I'll try to send out at least 1 update while I'm gone.

PRAYER REQUESTS: Please pray for my time in the Northwest...
1. That I'd be able to connect with supporters and potential supporters in the Portland area.
2. Camp Morrow - specifically for the experiential learning times I'll be leading. Pray that students would catch a vision for how they could impact those around them for Christ.
3. Kamiah, Idaho - for the high school girls I'll be leaning into on the trip. Pray that I'd know how to encourage and challenge them as they step out and serve the Nez Perce community.
Happy 4th of July! I hope you have a great day celebrating America's birthday. Join me in praising God for the freedoms we have in this county. I'm particularly reminded today of the men and women deployed around the world defending our freedom and fighting to extend those freedoms to other nations. Thanks for being a part of the Key Club and praying for our military community.

Dear Key Club,

Praise the Lord my dad made it home this past week - just in time for Father's Day! It's fun to have him home again. : ) Thanks for praying for his return. My brother will be next; he's scheduled to leave Qatar sometime towards the end of July. He's been over there for 5 months now, and he seems ready to be home.

On Wednesday I'm heading to Green Lake, Wisconsin for a Cadence International mission-wide staff conference. This is something Cadence does every 10 years or so, and this year's conference is conveniently located just 3 hours from my house! The first part of the conference is for Malachi folks. Youth workers from Japan and Germany, and stateside people like me who are raising support, will get together for 4 days of team building and equipping. The second portion of the conference is for the entire Cadence family - both Malachi youth workers and Cadence hospitality house folks, in addition to home office staff and leadership will gather for a week of spiritual refreshment, training, and fellowship. I'm really looking forward to catching up with Cadence friends and connecting with other missionaries. Over 300 people are expected to come to the conference from all over the states, Europe and Asia. Please pray for all the traveling that will be going on! Also, pray that God would be encourage and challenge our hearts as we seek to serve Him well and that He'd renew our vision and hearts for ministering to the military community.

I'd appreciate continued prayers for my support situation. As I've shared with you over the past weeks, my hope is to be serving in Germany this fall, but I won't be released to the field until I have a support team in place to cover the ministry in prayer and to sustain it financially. I'm very excited to report that I'm up to 50% of my monthly needs - Praise God! It's super encouraging to see this number climbing!! I'm still needing $1400 a month. Would you join me in praying that God would continue open doors for me to share with potential supporters and that He'd soften people's hearts for military teens.

Thanks for journeying with me team! I sure appreciate your prayers and encouragement.

Blessings,
Beth

Dear Key Club,

Trust this finds you doing well and enjoying the start of June. I’d like to introduce you to AJ - my future ministry partner at Ramstein. I met AJ, his wife Anna, and their adorable daughter Moriah, my first year at Multnomah. I’m going to take the week off and have AJ write this week’s update! - Beth

------------------------

Greetings friends, supporters and family of Beth. My name is Andrew Johnson (AJ) and my wife Anna and I are eagerly awaiting Beth's arrival on the field. We are expecting our 2nd child in July. And while we are overjoyed about our growing family, we do realize this will impact our ministry to military teens at Ramstein. The new baby will pull my wife completely out of ministry for at least six months.

June is month of change for our group at Ramstein, specifically in regards to our staff. My Malachi ministry partner Juliana, will be leaving this month after 6+ years of great ministry to students and families here. Also leaving in June is: Julie, who has been interning with Malachi for the past four months; Laura, a regular volunteer for trips and teaching, who’s headed to Turkey; and Jordan, a volunteer teacher and someone who does a lot of contact ministry with students.

As I consider our teens, I’m painfully aware that the amount of energy to minister to these students is going down significantly. Both the Ramstein High School and Middle School numbers 1,000 students each. When I think about reaching these 2,000 students, I’m overwhelmed both relationally and administratively.

I do, however, have hope. My hope is not in Beth, but in the God we serve who loves these students and wants them to know Him. I would ask that you would continue to pray for Beth to be able to be here soon--since I do believe she is part of God's provision for this community. Further, would you pray that the Lord would raise up new volunteers for Beth and I to disciple and see minister meaningfully to these students.

Finally, if the Lord is moving you, would you spread the word? If you know someone who has a heart for military teens, let them know about our ministry! Encourage them to partner with Beth in her endeavors to see every student as a minister and to work on the great commission. Thanks for your faithful giving and prayers.
